Aims and Ambitions
We aim to provide a unique way that charities and events can benefit from inviting along an event photographer.
Child Protection Initiative
Levo-Pics have compiled a Child Protection Policy in line with current legislation and have taken reference with the major contributors in this field like the NSPCC.
Levo-Pics Child Protection Guidelines:
A child is defined as anyone who has not yet reached their 18th birthday.
The (UK) Children Act 2004 made it clear that safeguarding children is the responsibility of all. The welfare of the Child is and must always be paramount. It is every child’s and young person’s right to be protected from abuse, irrespective of their age, sex, gender, culture, disability, racial origin, background, religious beliefs or sexual orientation.
All organisers have a duty of care to safeguard children when they are participating in their activities. Parents/carers want to be able to celebrate the achievements of their children when taking part in sporting activities through photographs. Sports organisations will also want to promote their activities to encourage increased participation.
There is evidence, however, that certain individuals will visit sporting events to take inappropriate photographs or video footage of young and disabled sports people in vunerable positions. The Child protection in Sport Unit does not advocate the banning of photography, but recommends that it is subject to appropriate and proportionate safeguards being in place to ensure a safe sporting environment for children and young people.
1/Levo-Pics: Code of Good Conduct for Photographers.
In the interests of child protection, Photographers will operate in accordance with the Levo-Pics Code of Good Conduct for Photographers.
Photographers will only attend an event to take photographs for Levo-Pics when they have been invited to do so by the event organisers.
Levo-Pics photographers must register their details with event organisers prior to the event: name &address, subjects to be photographed, the use the images are being put to and a signed declaration that the images will only be used for the reasons given.
Event organisers are obliged to inform those attending an event that an official photographer will be present. In the interests of child protection and good practice, Levo-Pics will display a form which parents and their children may sign if they do not wish to be photographed: photographers must consult this list prior to starting work and should make every effort to avoid photographing those children listed.
All Event Photography photographers will be fully Enhanced CRB checked.
Levo-Pics photographers will be identified by wearing clothing featuring our company logo and by carrying ID at all times.
Photographs must reflect the event taking place and must not offend good taste: for example, if you are photographing a swimming event, shots of swimmers in the water are appropriate, or if poolside, photographs of swimmers from the waist or shoulder up, in the appropriate attire.
Children must only be photographed wearing clothing appropriate for the sport that they are taking part in: if the appropriate clothing is removed, photographs must not be taken.
Under no circumstances will Levo-Pics photographers have unsupervised access to young people.
Photographers must respect all individuals whom they are photographing and officials at each event, regardless of their age, sex, gender, culture, disability, racial origin, background, religious beliefs or sexual orientation and must be courteous at all times.
If a child appears to be uncomfortable about being photographed, even if they have not signed to decline, photographers should show sensitivity and common sense and avoid photographing a particular subject.
Photographers must be vigilant with regard to health and safety at all times: they must ensure that their equipment and they themselves do not obstruct any athlete or official involved in an event at any time: the NSPCC advises that children are often less careful than adults and this should be taken into account.
If a photographer has concerns that child protection is being compromised at an event, they should report their concerns to event organisers immediately: Event Photography photographers and staff must not attempt to deal with any situations of abuse themselves.
